Airtech FlightPass FAQ

Q : What is the Airtech E-Pass?
(Return to: FAQ Menu)
A : An electronic ticket that requires no "hard" ticket. Good for flights to/from Hawaii & California; plus NYC, Boston, Orlando and Minneapolis to Europe. These flights are reserved 24 hours in advance. Passengers notify us by email right before their Travel Window when they're ready to fly. If a seat is available, we'll confirm via email. If no seat is available, we default to the next available date, again based on your Travel Window, & likewise notify you by email. Once the reservation is made, the E-Pass is non-refundable and non-cancelable.

For Hawaii Only:

  • If seats are unavailable on your preferred date, we default to the following day(s) in your Travel Window; should seats be unavailable during your entire Travel Window, you can a) extend your Travel Window, b) put your E-Pass on hold & use anytime within 1 year of purchase or c) obtain refund.minus $25 per one way E-Pass.
  • Flights from California to Hawaii depart at 9AM & 1PM. Flights from Hawaii to Mainland USA are at 3PM & 9PM. (Schedules subject to change.) Seasonal flights to/from Kona & Lihue are summertime only.
  • Busiest travel periods: mid-December thru first week of January; school holidays (Presidents' Weekend; Springbreak [early March - early April]); and mid-July to mid-August. It's possible to fly even during peak periods but be extra flexible.
  • By contractual agreement airline names are disclosed only after we book your CR.
  • Refunds/Extensions: Refunds are given only prior to your CR, less $25 the purchase price per E-Pass within 1 year of purchase. Extend E-Passes after 1 year by paying a $25 fee. Once CR is issued, no refunds allowed.
  • Changes: Once your CR is issued you may change your date of travel on a one-time only basis for a $50 fee; changes can only be made Mon-Fri until 6PM EST; seat must be re-booked within 4 days of the change of date on your CR & Airtech must be notified by email at least 24 hours in advance of any changes.

Q : What is the Airtech Space-Available FlightPass?
(Return to: FAQ Menu)
A : It's a paper voucher shipped directly to you which you'll remit at the airport for a Space-Available flight, based on unreserved region-to-region travel, currently good for Europe to / from the USA (one-way). Most Airlines have seats that remain empty at the time of takeoff (except perhaps during peak holiday periods [Christmas, President's Day Weekend, Spring Break, etc.] as well as June 23-July3 & July 23-August 3 going eastbound [from the USA to Europe] & westbound [returning from Europe] from mid July to mid August when travel is inadvisable). Our FlightPass gains you access to these unsold seats. Select carriers regularly communicate their anticipated seat availability to us. We then pass this information to our clients who redeem their FlightPasses for travel.

Q : Who should use Airtech's Space-Available Passes?
(Return to: FAQ Menu)
A : Flexible people. If you have a business meeting in, say, London on a certain date at a specific hour and your entire career depends on that, then please book a confirmed flight.

Q : Can I fly to my preferred destination?
(Return to: FAQ Menu)
A : A lot of passengers do. If it's unavailable, you can either wait for it or fly to a different city. Remember, as an Airtech passenger, we get you to a general region: for example, Western Europe, rather than a specific city in Europe.

Q : Can I leave from my preferred departure city?
(Return to: FAQ Menu)
A : Sure, as long as it's available at the time you want to fly and is an Airtech departure city. Otherwise, you can either wait or leave from another city. The choice is yours.

Q : Can I fly on the date that I choose?
(Return to: FAQ Menu)
A : Usually, and very probably within your Travel Window. But, again, we guarantee neither an exact date nor destination.

Q : What is the "Travel Window" and how does it work?
(Return to: FAQ Menu)
A : An interval of time when you want & will be available to fly, usually a 4 or 5 day date-range, depending on destination. During your Travel Window, you either fly or get a refund. You also have the option of extending your Travel Window if you prefer. Our success rate is 94%, as long as the traveler is flexible with dates and destinations.

Q : Do I have to fly during my Travel Window?
(Return to: FAQ Menu)
A : You're flexible, so we're flexible. You can use your Pass during your Travel Window. If you don't, simply contact us when you are ready to fly. Passes are good for one (1) year from the date of purchase. You can extend this by paying a $50 fee per Pass. Remember though, once you notify us that you're ready to fly & we book a flight for you - which we confirm via email - your money becomes non-refundable.

Q : Once I've purchased, how do I find out about my flight details?
(Return to: FAQ Menu)
FOR TRAVEL BETWEEN HAWAII & CALIFORNIA: You'll be emailed a Request Form; fill out completely & email back ASAP to Hawaii@Airtech.com. Starting 4 days prior to your Travel Window, we'll search for available seat(s) that match your itinerary & send to you via email a Confirmed Booking Reservation (CBR) 2 - 4 days prior to your actual flight. If no seat(s) is available on your preferred date, we default to the following day(s) in your Travel Window. If you do not receive a CBR 2 days prior to travel, email Hawaii@Airtech.com for the status of your reservation (please, only 1 email per day - multiple emails get deleted). Once your CBR is issued, no refunds are allowed but you may change your date of travel on a one-time only basis for a $50 fee; seat must be re-booked within 4 days of the change of date & Airtech must be notified by email at least 24 hours in advance of any changes. Same day cancellations on your actual flight date must be made 3 hours prior to departure time & are subject to a $50 per ticket handling fee. (Price differential between weekday & weekend, if any, must be settled prior to re-booking.)

FOR TRAVEL FROM NORTHEAST USA, ORLANDO OR MINNEAPOLIS TO EUROPE: Contact us Monday-Friday prior to 12 Noon EST via email (Europe@Airtech.com) the day before you want to fly. Include:

Name of Passenger(s)
Phone Number
5 Digit Receipt Number
Departure City
Preferred Destination (plus 1 or 2 alternatives)

If a seat(s) is available you'll receive an E-ticket via email before the close of business EST. Print your E-ticket & take to the airport. If no seat(s) is available on your preferred date, we default to the following day(s) in your Travel Window. NOTE: once an E-ticket is issued, no changes or cancellations allowed; failing to show-up for your flight forfeits your payment.

FOR TRAVEL FROM EUROPE TO USA - You'll need the Airtech paper FlightPass (there are no E-tickets for flights originating in Europe). This is unreserved standby, on a walk-up basis. From Amsterdam; go directly to the airport & speak with an Icelandair representative. Be prepared to pay departure fees & taxes. Present your FlightPass &, if seats are available, pay departure fees + taxes for ticketing. For further schedule information, refer to the FlightList

Q : Which airlines do we work with?
(Return to: FAQ Menu)
A: Airtech has arrangements with a select group of major scheduled airlines. We are bound by contract to withhold their names for two reasons:
. Everyone involved (you, us, the airlines) only knows the specifics of your flight as we approach your Travel Window because each Airtech passenger's travel plans are unique to that individual. . Airlines contract with Airtech at low fares as long as we don't compete with them for sales. They want to sell seats for much higher fares, so we agree never to reveal carriers in our marketing.

Q : Do I have to fly back from the same city I fly into?
(Return to: FAQ Menu)
A : No.

Q : Can two or more people travel together?
(Return to: FAQ Menu)
A : Yes, as long as they're flexible about dates and destinations. Flights with one available seat usually have others. The Last Train to Clarksville is a long way from the last seat on a plane.

Q : Am I locked into the Space-Available program once I have purchased a Pass?
(Return to: FAQ Menu)
A : No, you may cancel at any time less $50 per pass.

Q : How long is my Pass valid?

(Return to: FAQ Menu)
A : Up to one (1) year from date of purchase.

Q : What is our refund policy?
(Return to: FAQ Menu)
A : Each Pass is subject to a $50 fee for any changes including refunds, transfers or destination changes plus applicable difference in price on any additional purchases including shipping, handling, and taxes.

Q : What would happen if my paper voucher FlightPass is lost or stolen?
(Return to: FAQ Menu)
A : Sorry, FlightPasses are non-replaceable and non-refundable if lost or stolen. Keep them in a safe place just like any other valuable. (This applies only to the paper FlightPasses and not electronic E-Passes.)

Q : When flying standby with Airtech, do I have priority over other standby passengers?
(Return to: FAQ Menu)
A : For Hawaii, yes - Airtech has exclusive access to availability 4 days prior to a flight's departure. For Europe, it's the airline's discretion which standby passengers have priority.
